PSALM 22

A quick reading of this Psalm immediately reminds one of the Gospel's account of the Crucifixion of Christ. Words that Jesus spoke from the cross, details about his garments, torture, even the conversation of bystanders at the cross...all spoken by David in this song. Even as David is describing his own ordeal, God used these lyrics to foreshadow the drama of Christ's death.

In the midst of the author's anguish, he refers to God as his Strength, Deliver and Rescuer.... he commits himself to declare God's name in public and admonishes us to revere God's name at all times.

When Jesus cried out these same words, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" .... make no mistake Jesus knew more than just the first line of Psalm 22! "All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord;...for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations."

God always has the last word!
