PSALM 12

What a compact discourse... within a few words David once again paints a graphic picture of sin and evil. He begins with a bit of hyperbole; "the faithful have vanished from among men." ... "everyone lies to his neighbor"...The Scripture often uses this literary form to express an overwhelming situation, much the same as we do in common expressions like, "everybody is doing it".

David portrays sin and evil prevailing throughout his society, especially expressed in speech....  lies, flattery, deception, bragging. Remind you of anything? But look how God's words are described- flawless and like refined purified silver! O how we listen and savory the former and ignore the later! When was the last time we set to memory a portion of Scripture? Have we taken a phrase to ponder during the day? Maybe today we will hold onto this - "Help, Lord!" Can't get much simpler than that!

Here is the Seder's furnace to fire clay pots...imagine firing silver seven times thus leaving a pure and very expensive piece of precious metal...just like God's Word!
