Betrayed by friends
Tortured with stones embedded in a leather whip
Struck in the head with fists and a sadistic crown of thorns
Jeered and bullied
And yet Pilate found him blameless.
The final act of betrayal... schooled in the Old Testament predictions of the Messiah... these Jewish leaders cry out, "We have no king but Caesar."
They were not even claiming God as their king.
Blind ... small men...grasping for lies to save their skins.
plotting... hating ... selling their souls ...
"crucify him!"
He had all power at his disposal and
he chose to demonstrate it with sacrificial love
even towards those holding the whip and pounding the nails.
