PSALM 79

Our cry for help is usually motivated by our personal pain and discomfort. When it comes to seeking forgiveness, we are likely feeling the unpleasantness of guilt or shame. In a pursuit of comfort and peace, we plead, "Help us, O God our Savior..." But this Psalm flows from a different motivation.

"Help us O God, ..."for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name's sake." Do you see the difference? Here we are confronted with an extraordinary prayer... Lord, heal, help and forgive us so that your light in us will burn brighter...so the nations will see your glory and honor your name.
