Flour

Today at Bible Study, a member of Orlando Pres told me that she makes everything from scratch! YUM! She did not respond when I offered to move in with them! :-)
I wonder what she could do with this!

Sacks of flour at the Strawberry Festival!

Be Alert

How many times do we miss the moment... that quiet story kids tell us that gives an insight into their little minds ... a friend's compliment that we brush aside ... God's voice to us while we sit in traffic... Look a this guy... he is taking it all in... May we all be more alert!

TRUST

Is there anything better in life, than your Dad launching you into the air! The son has total confidence in the Father. When have you trusted your heavenly Father with such joy and confidence?

PAYING RESPECT

I never met him, but every time we visited my Aunt Nellie, there was his picture on the wall. My first cousin lost his life in World War II. Would it be an exaggeration to say that every family in our country has been affected in some way by military service?  I am so proud that my brother and nephew have served our country in military service. To those families whose sons and daughters have sacrificed their lives in the name of the USA, thank you.

"THEY LEFT ME"

What a great afternoon! Five young cousins, two sister moms and a son/father... all came over to swim. The youngest is 3 years old. Everyone was having a fun time hanging together, but floated away from the 3 year in his tube. Note his reaction to being left behind. How grand to know that Christ never leaves us behind even if we are alone.

SOBER!

Today as I was visiting a 90 year old member along with one of our deacons, I announced that yesterday I was drunk! I wish there was a picture of their surprised somber faces! I went on to explain, it happened at the dentist office when they gave me laughing gas! We laughed together! Somehow I learned from early on that one can have fun without getting drunk. Yes, strip pounds and about 50 years and you get teenager Linda... quite sober:-)

Walking on the Jetty at Cape Canaveral, and there was an umbrella who broke free to head out to sea!

Honoring Our Giants

Some years ago a Germantown, TN man turned his property into a private park. After his death, the community took over maintaining the grounds and all the unique items that were originally part of the "park". It appears the man created his own monument to honor those in Germantown that made a significant impact. If you created a monument to the people that impacted your life, whose names would appear on the marker? ... Thank God for them!

A Bad Pedicure?

Really not sure what this is all about... the painting was on a tall ship in Cape Canaveral harbor. Check out those "tusks" growing out of her feet!

Just because I like it :-)

Tried to think of something profound about this photo... I "got nothing"! This is a replica of a 15th century tall sailing ship... with a fellow photographer hanging for an angle. Maybe this will inspire you to see a meaningful perspective on life!

Clean Water

A bird "seeking" a drink from a water fountain? Well maybe not,
but it got me wondering, "Where do I go when my soul is thirsty?"
...shopping and chocolate come to mind! I have been a Christian for
52 years so you would think that by now I would know to "perch" on
God's Word for hydration. But sometimes a gentle reminder is necessary!
Let's drink in Isaiah 55:1-6..."Come, all you who are thirsty... Seek the Lord
while he may be found; call on him while he is near."

Post Mothers Day

Hope you all had a fabulous Day honoring and remembering the significant women in your lives! In a conversation with a Park Lake Presbyterian, I was reminded of this photo from Yellowstone ... When resting, the female bison form a circle around the youngsters for protection. In light of the tragic events around our country concerning children and youth, may we pledge to keep a better eye on the safety and protection of children and youth in our neighborhoods! Let's knock on our neighbor's doors and get better acquainted. Let's watch out for each other... OK!

MOTHERS DAY

Mother's are indeed to be celebrated on this day... but please remember there are hurting hearts facing this day... those who grieve the death of a mother, those who bear the scares of abusive parents, those who long to be a mother and time is slipping away... Yes let us all honor our mothers, but keep our eyes open to the ones who hide from this day.

Here are the "mothers" that helped shape me into the women I am today- My Great grandmother, Sidney and my grandmother Lena. I never met either of these women, but they helped shape my mother, Lena Jr. and she certainly influenced my life.

Wedding on the Dock?

As the Christian Chicks were roaming the Jetty Park at Cape Canaveral, we were besieged with the Florida "love bugs"... creatures that mate without shame or hesitation! Perhaps this time there was a marriage that came with wedding rings! A shout out to Cheryl for providing the backdrop and props!

2000 Years in the past

This morning at the Orlando Presbyterian Thursday Bible Study, I showed some of my photos from a trip to Philippi in Greece. This shows the ancient ruins of a prominent Roman colony in Philippi. Paul walked these streets, witnessed to the love and truth of Jesus Christ, and founded a Christian Church here. We begin a study of Paul's letter to the Philippian Church and God's Word to us.

GREAT DAY!

What a delightful day with new friends! Headed to Cape Canaveral for lunch with the "Christian Chicks"... Then we checked out the "tall ships" docked near by... and a walk down the Jetty Park. Watch for more photos from this adventure but for now- here's the Chicks!

BIRTHDAY

What an extra-ordinary birthday! The Church Session and Deacons both celebrated with birthday cake and cup cakes! Tonight these three fun companions and their delightful mom went out to dinner with me..to a Japanese Steak House! The kids enjoyed the "show" and chop sticks! The topped off with phone calls from family and friends in addition to all the Face Book good wishes. Thank you Lord for this my 67th year!

The Milk Stool

It was sometime around 1960, my Dad burned his foot by tripping over a bucket of boiling water... water he was planning to use to clean the feathers off a chicken destined for the evening's dinner. Here he is resting on the front porch with his leg propped up ... note the brown stool under his foot. He built that stool to use in milking cows. I am so pleased to have that same stool in my new home.

First Swim

I bought the kids new swim suits and noodles, so tonight {even though it was only in the 70's and drizzling rain} they were excited to jump in and try out their stuff!

BEGINNINGS

The beginning of a new day, with all the possibilities of doing things that will last for eternity... treating others with compassion and patience, offering moments of thanksgiving to Christ, gently pointing people toward the love of God... all possibilities for today!

Recorded History

Pennsylvania is filled with historical places, dating back to 12,000 years ago. Often these locations have plaques giving some pertinent information about the site... such as "George Washington slept here"! With that in mind, my sister posted this sign on her Pennsylvania home.
