CRAFTMANSHIP

What beautiful craftmanship in this small roll top desk! Who does this kind of work anymore?

It reminds me of Ephesians 2:10 ..."We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works..."

COOK BOOK

At my retirement celebration,  the Thomas congregation gave me, among other things, a brand new cook book! The joke of course is I really don't do much cooking! In fact there is a sign hanging in my kitchen, "The only reason I have a kitchen is because it came with the house."

But today I pulled it off the shelf and looked up avocado. You see Betty R. gave me one and I needed to use it for something. I ended up scooping it out and mixing it with Salsa...turned out yummy!

SMALL GROUP

Orlando Presbyterian has two small groups studing Richard Foster's book on "Prayer: Finding Hearts True Home". Here is one of those groups...I am so proud of the way they are studing the book and wrestling with new ways to pray or have a conversation with God.

Seeking Christ and each other to bridge the struggles of life. They are meeting the first and third Friday night's of the month. THANK YOU

WOW...today set the record 181 views of my blog! "Thank You" all for keeping up with the roaming retired reverend.

HE'S GOT YOU COVERED!

Talk about a shade tree! This Live Oak totally covers this Orlando house and reduces their electric bill for air conditioning. It even seems to be leaning in toward the house for greater coverage!

The Bible talks about God covering us with his care and protection... sometimes we don't even notice God's constant love and care for us. And unlike this tree which one day will succumb to wind, storm or disease, our heavenly Father's care is for eternity.

I took this photo last night on my way to a Orlando Presbyterian small group meeting.

Update on "duck"

A few days ago I posted this rather strange looking creature... Guy N. has identified "her"!

"the duck is a Muscovy duck, one of the uglier, but very prolific, duck species"

Thanks, Guy!

Cheri's Kitchen

Meet Cheri Woods in her wonderful custom old fashion kitchen! But you would not guess that Cheri and Mike's home is only 12 years old and Mike did a good portion of the kitchen woodwork.

They are members of Orlando Presbyterian Church and hosted tonight's small group gathering.

HItchhiking on the Lake

After having a working lunch with a ministry team, I walked across the street to a local lake and caught this shot of a "hitchhiking" canine along with owner taking a little mid day cruise!

JUICEY TRASH

I was out and about today and came along workers throwing sand on a large swath of a parking area and then sweeping it all up... must have been spillage from this trash dumpster and their attempt to remove it.
It reminds of how we often pollute our way with mispoken words and thoughtless actions... the only problem - we don't have a crew working behind us to clean up.

TIRED

This pic was taken several years ago at Sanabel Island, FL ...I was rested and relaxed on vacation.

Tonight I am quite tired and ready to hit the sack! I preached at the Park Lake PC this morning, had lunch with my family, shopped for a XBox 360 gaming system, {that will await Peter to set it up}, then off again to preach for Orlando PC tonight.... we also ordained  Deacons.

Maybe tomorrow I will look more like this picture! Good Night and God bless you all around the world!

ANOTHER ROAMING ONE

I am not the only roaming retired one! This duck / goose seemed a little over heated on a Florida hot day. One day I saw him at Office Max's parking lot and the next day he was across a 6 lane highway at the Suntrust Bank. Then a few days later he showed back up across the same road at Office Max. Yes I spend a lot of time with my "office help" at Office Max!

Hope he roams to a cooler place along the water...

EARNESTINE

Orlando Presbyterian Church welcomes Earnestine! Yes the second triplet is visiting us this week at the 6 pm worship service. {Earlene is away on a Disney Cruise. And I am not sure where Earl is these days!}  Earnestine has just been to Nashvile and New York on singing engagements. I wonder what she will sing for us?

Here she is working from New York!
Photo by Cris Heceta, who is Earnestine's travel assistant!
Isn't this fun :-)

NIGHT LIFE

A few years ago friends and I took a camera class. One of our assignments was night photography with an open lens to take in all the light for a period of time. Here is my shot with fellow photograper, Kathi Durkin working her own camera. The lines of light are from cars driving by and turning up my street.

MISTAKE

A few days ago I posted a bird that I called a wood stork... but alas I was mistaken! Ron Stricker and Julie Galati straightened me out... the bird was actually an anhinga or water turkey.  Thanks Friends!

Welcome to new viewers

A warm welcome to viewers in Canada and Brazil! Thanks for checking in with the roaming retired reverend! I try to post a new photo each day along with a bit of commentary.... God Bless!

Here is "Fred" who posed so nicely for me ... Venice Beach, FL... a few years ago.

BLACK ON WHITE

Just something a little different tonight... with a little help from the computer, I turned this photo into a strange background for a Florida Wood Stork. Or at least that's what the Strickers called this bird!

VISITORS FROM PA.

What a wonderful surprise tonight at Orlando Presbyterian worship service! In walked the Bowman family! On vacation in Florida, this Thomas Church family checked up on their former retired pastor! After worship we stopped for a bite to eat and they followed me back to my apartment just to make sure I was doing OK. When they departed,  Jeff  turned and said "You are doing well!"

Thanks Jeff... it was so good to hang with you all tonight!!!

DEPARTING

This almost looks like a painting... after our Orlando Presbyterian Church's planning meeting this morning, I spotted this bird along Park Lake... he soon took flight after spending a few minutes deciding just how close I was coming toward him. I wonder if the box was a nesting place?

POT OF GOLD IN STRABANE

I took this picture a couple of years ago from my front porch in Strabane. It seemed the "pot of gold" should have been on Latimer Street!

PROGRESS

I promised you before and after pictures of my new bookcases ... to all of you who helped box these amazing books and those who helped unload and unpack them- THANK YOU!

I have already begun to use my library in sermon prep and personal Bible study.

I continue to love these IKEA all wood shelves along with a matching desk. The apartment is turning into a home complete with playful grand kids!

COURAGE

When I think of the courageous vision Thomas Church had to start this preschool, I am overjoyed to see how God has blessed this ministry.

May we each stretch to do bold things for Jesus Christ that change lives and reshape our world!

WATER AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

Water everywhere... I led my first Power Walk1 Classes  at Orlando Pres this week... one in the morning and one at night... in all 17 people are participating out of a congregation of about 40+....and indeed the Holy Spirit was everywhere! What a blessing, Richard Foster's book on prayer, continues to bless countless people by   deepening their prayer life and relationship with Christ.

Picture taken at St Croix...
